With the population of Maine at about 1.2 million people in 2000 and being less than 35,000 square miles you have a lot going on in a small state where you can reach most attractions in under a day. With about 3,500 miles of coastline you are in for a seafood-dining dream come true.

There is so much more than great dining experiences in Maine. With such rich history and breathtaking scenery there are sites to visit and museums for your enrichment. In fact Maine is one of America's favorite travel sites and offers a wealth of interest like antiques shopping, rich history, golfing and lot of outdoor sporting activities.

When its time to eat though, Maine offers a wide variety of dining experiences to satisfy any taste and most any place you go will serve fine foods in many different settings. The specialty of this ocean bordering state is seafood and especially their lobster. No matter what type of food you want you will find fine dining from many sources.

Keep in mind the population of this state is less than many major cities then consider that as of 2004 I had found over 400 listings in Maine for just about every type of food covering all cultures, atmosphere and spread across the state. This is not counting the chain restaurants that you see in nearly ever town.

With proper trip planning and keeping an eye on upcoming events Maine offers a great value for all around vacationing. With so much of the states resources devoted to tourism you are assured that you will find the best in everything.

There is no place that you go in this state that does not offer great golfing, outdoor sports like kayaking, historical significance, and so much more. Each of these areas offer dining experiences as pleasing and impressive as you would expect to find in any world-class travel destination.
